I have attended courses at other venues, but this one was unique in several ways. For example, the course had a high teacher to student ratio. Because of this, we all got the one-on-one help with the things we struggled with when we needed it… rather than when an instructor happened to come by and notice. They quickly recognized when issues crept in, and helped us to correct immediately, before bad habits could be formed. When any of us needed a little extra help, the instructors were great at explaining and demonstrating in a concise manner, but always in an open and supportive manner. It was a great experience. I want to take the three day as soon as I can arrange it! We will be returning and recommend Tactical Performance Center without any reservations. Definitely 5 stars! read less

I have been shooting for years, and while I have trained with several nationally known champions and instructors, I have never received training as good as what I get from TPC. The instructors are all top notch. The instructor to student ratio is much higher than what you get in a normal class, so you get a lot of individual attention. Moreover, the teaching method and the science behind it is superior to anything that I have ever seen. The students also all seem to be highly motivated, which helps create a great atmosphere for learning. All in all these classes are an outstanding value for the money, and there is no quicker way to improve than training with TPC. Whether you're a newcomer to the sport, or more experienced, TPC will help you improve. I've been shooting competitively for a few years, and have taken several classes from some very good instructors, but I can say without reservation that the program at TPC is an incredible value. The approach Ron Avery and all of the instructors take is to break down in great detail the mechanics of shooting. The detail, and the sequencing of the exercises give you both the macro and micro view of shooting technique.TPC's approach to the fire control triad (stance/grip/trigger control), very clearly breaks down the mechanics needed to control the pistol. The shooting sports are much easier when the pistol rapidly, and effortlessly returns to the starting point (sights aligned). If you're looking to improve your abilities, look no further than the fine folks at TPC! read less

They took us at whatever level we were, and they prepared us to shoot rapidly by the end of the day. I was shocked by the improvement and the confidence built in such a short period of time. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with them. We loved the whole experience, would recommend them highly, and we will do it again in the future. BONUS: Our car broke down while we were there, and Dave actually escorted us to the part store, and he stayed with us for almost 3 hours while we worked on the car. Wonderful people! read less

The answer is YES! I never thought I would ever consider spending the money to go to one until I met Ken Nelson at a match in St. George. I told him of my frustration of plateauing at my current skill level. Ken took the time listen and explained why TPC’s pistol mastery course would be the perfect fit to help me achieve my goals. So I decided to pull the trigger so to speak and signed up for my first class. I attended the 3-day Pistol Master Class in June. I wasn’t sure what expectations I had, but from the instructors, to the curriculum, to the amount of individual attention received, TPC surpassed every one of them. The curriculum was probably what surprised me the most. You are not just taught to shoot the way that they want you to simply because they say so. Instead you are taught the principles and reasoning behind every aspect of their shooting system. These principles vary from things you might expect like your grip and trigger manipulation to those that I had never put as much thought into. The ratio of instructors to students is fantastic. There was one teacher to every two students. This allowed for all the individual attention needed, making it feel more personal versus just being grouped in with several others. The instructors themselves are also phenomenal, not just at instructing on the range, but breaking down and dissecting every aspect of your shooting. While doing this they are able to pinpoint the areas that need tweaking or modification, helping you to make the necessary adjustments to improve your accuracy and performance.By the end of day 3 I felt I could already see an improvement in my shooting. But as they counseled at the end of the course, it takes months of practicing these new principles to make them 2nd nature. It has been almost 3 months since the class and I have seen more improvement in my shooting abilities then I have over the last couple years. If you are unhappy with your skill level as a shooter and want to improve, I highly recommend taking a class from the Tactical Performance Center. You will not regret it and it will leave you wanting to come back for more. read less Keith MillettI have 28 years in Law Enforcement and 19 of those years as a firearms instructor. The TPC Handgun Bootcamp course was simply amazing and it completely changed my life. I learned that shooting isn't just pointing at a target and pulling the trigger. I learned shooting is more a mental sport than a physical one. And I only understood this through the concept of "the reactive shooting cycle" that Ron Avery developed though his experiences as a world class competitive shooter, police officer, and a teacher. It was easy to understand and apply to shooting and I instantly saw results in accuracy and muzzle control. I was shocked to see how much of these concepts still retained with me even after the classes. Ultimately the difference is: when i go to the shooting range, I can call my shots. My paper shows my groupings are on target and not sprayed all over the paper like everyone else in the range. read less

I'm a 3 gunner and I was fortunate be able to make the trip to the Tactical Performance Center recently and I had the best time ever. If you compete in 3 Gun, USPSA or something similar and you want to improve your performance, you need to take a class from TPC. One of their students/instructors became the youngest ever female grandmaster in USPSA. That alone should tell you something about the level of quality of their training. If you can’t make the trip to Utah, they do travel to your range. Get some buddies together at your local range to help shoulder the costs. Ken sells the way he wishes he could buy. If you need cancel, you can cancel the day before the class and still get a refund. If you sign up for a class and you're somehow the only person signed up, they'll still hold the class. Everyone who works at TPC are great people. My trip out to TPC was to take Handgun Mastery. It is a 3 day class designed to give you the tools to take your handgun game to another level. I was in a group of 12, and we never had less than 3 instructors at any point during the day. I believe we typically had 4 instructors with us. It sounds like this is the norm for TPC, they want to make sure that you are getting your moneys worth of instruction. Having a good instructor to student ratio is part of this. Many of the instructors are high level competitors in their own rights, some examples include Tim Yackley, Brian Nelson, Max Leograndis, and Jalise & Justine Williams. The instructors are there to help make sure you get the most out of the experience. They were willing to spend extra time with me to answer questions and make sure I fully understood everything. The class goes over everything that you would expect of something called handgun mastery. Stance, grip, recoil management, drawing from the holster, sight picture, accuracy, speed, etc. All the shooting I did was stationary and the drills were designed to help me bring everything together by the end of the class. They will break down each element, explain a little bit about the theory and how it all works, and then help you put it all together so that you can work on it when you get home. To get the full benefits of the class, you’re going to have to take what you’ve learned and practice at home. As I said, practice makes permanent. If you don’t take the tools they give you and drill it into your subconscious, you will revert to your old mistakes under pressure. Of my group of 12, I’d say 10 of them were already pretty decent to high level pistol shooters. I was not one of those 10, which is why I was so excited to take a 3 day pistol class. However, all 12 of us improved greatly over the course of the 3 day class. One of my group members remarked to the instructors something to the effect of “I’m working on reprogramming myself to use what I’m learning but I keep reverting to my old programming”. Everyone in our group had a good time and everyone found a way to elevate their pistol game. You’re going to get a lot of stuff thrown at you over the course of 3 days, so pay attention and take notes so that you can work on things when you get home. Your hands will probably get sore, so you may want bring some athletic tape for your hands. A cooler to store sandwiches for lunch will also be helpful. The course description says 1700 rounds, but I think i shot closer to 2200 rounds. This class is 100% worth it and I recommend it to anyone and everyone. The sooner you can take a class from TPC, the sooner you can reap the benefits and start building off what you learn. Practice makes permanent, and the sooner you can break the bad habits or the less than ideal habits, the better off you will be in the long term for your competitive shooting career. I wish I had been able to take this class sooner. I’m sure many of you have been frustrated after a stage, and I firmly believe that many of those frustrations would not have happened if I had taken this class at the start of my 3 gun career. Like I mentioned, if you can’t go to TPC you can always try to bring TPC to you. 3 takeaways:1: I’m glad I didn’t have my 2011 yet. I feel like using my glock 19 made it harder to hide any potential issues I had. In my opinion, the 2011 weight and trigger would have masked flaws in my skills. All the skills I learned will transfer over to my future 20112: regardless of skill level, you will learn something. The sooner you take a class of this level, the better to speed up your learning curve3: Be ready to practice once you get back, you need to be able to get rid of your old bad habits so you don't revert to them under stress read less

Trusted by Armed Professionals All Over The World

A few things we’re great at
Our student centered approach adapts to each student’s needs.
Industry low student teacher ratios
We generally run 1 instructor to 6 students. No students are left behind. Ever. Even if they require one on one instruction.
Realistic Measurement
We don’t stand close and shoot at big targets. We train to hit a lethal zone at gunfight speed and maximum distance (safer!). Our TPC Rating system lets you know where you stand versus the best in the world. It helps you keep improving (and know you are getting better) as you continue training after the course is over.
A System that Adapts to You
Our doctrine, “Reactive Shooting”, is the science of using the body, mind, and the physics of the gun to maximize the certainty of a hit in the earliest time. You may shoot different from the person next to you in en class – but it will be as fast and as accurate as can be done with your body, mind and weapon.
Positive Teaching
We use positive teaching methos that let you know what to do, versus what not to do. We also never yell, cuss, speak dispagingly of anyone. We are a school you can feel confident to bring your family, spouse, or professional unit and expect all to be treated with courtesy and respect.
We eat our own dogfood
We say what we do and do what we say. We use our own doctrine to improve our shooting. We train our instructors in our doctrine. It works. And when we can improve it, we do. We are not mired in dogmatic theory that is 40 years old. If you can beat us, we look, learn, and adapt what we teach and do. Just say no to stagnant schools!
We hit stuff fast
All our instructors are top 10th of a % in the world shooters. The better news… they are higher than that on teaching and caring about student results.
